Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is optional (taxable)
Purchase reduces renters financial liability (NWE) for damages to the vehicle as a result of an accident, vandalism or theft. If LDW is purchased, the renter's liability is reduced to an amount of 500.00 USD, not to exceed 3,000.00 USD depending on car group rented. If LDW is not purchased, the renters liability is 11,000.00 USD, not to exceed 49,000.00 USD depending on car group rented.  Exception: No LDW is available for purchase on car group M.

Avis accepts Avis Charge Cards, Air Travel, American Express, Discover, Mastercard, Optima, Visa.  An additional charge card hold will apply.  The hold will be the estimated cost of rental, plus CDW.  Exception: If the charge card used by the renter offers collision coverage, the liability amount is not held on the charge card.  The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental.

One way rentals outside of St Maarten/St Martin are not permitted.

Cars may travel freely between both sides (St Maarten/St Martin) of island.  Vehicles are not allowed outside St Maarten/St Martin.  

Cars can be returned to other Avis locations within St Maarten/St Martin based on car availability.

Debit cards are not accepted.

A valid driver's license from country of residence is required.  License must have been held for at least one year immediately prior to rental pick-up date.  International driving permit (IDP) is required only for countries with non-Roman alphabet to serve as a translation.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI) - Not applicable

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

At time of rental, on the Dutch Side we will automatically apply an additional 8.00 USD per day underage surcharge for renters ages 21-25 years with a maximum of 80.00 USD per rental.  

At time of rental, on the French Side we will automatically apply an additional 8.00 EUR per day underage surcharge for renters ages 21-25 years with a maximum of 80.00 EUR per rental.

Approximate total includes base rate, taxes, and surcharges. Items such as coupon discounts, child safety seats and gas are NOT included in the estimated total. Optional coverages and one-way fees are subject to tax in certain locations. This tax is not reflected in the Estimated Total.
