RETURNS: Customer must drop the keys and the parking ticket in a mailbox located on the wall next to the counter. Invoice sent via email or courier.

Optional Coverages

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) is optional.
LDW is not available on following car groups J, XA, XB, XC, XE, XG, XI, XK, XL, XM, XN, XO. It is mandatory for customer to take PDW (Partial Damage Waiver)
 

Available at all locations and varies depending on car group rented.
Our Recommendation to all our customers will always be to acquire our 100 percent waiver protection (LDW).  This is an optional product.  It releases the renter of all financial responsibility in the case of an accident or theft.  This is our most complete coverage product; it includes tires and wind shields. 

LDW does not include the cost of replacing lost license plates or keys, tow services and police fines. Client must follow all driving conditions stated in our terms of service clauses, any infractions to the stated conditions voids this coverage. 
If LDW is declined, the renter is fully responsible for the full value of the Avis vehicle, in addition to stolen accessories, repairs and loss of use during repairs.  An additional charge card hold will apply. The customer must sign an "Acknowledgement of Responsibility".  

Theft Protection (TP) is included with the purchase of LDW.

PDW (Partial Damage Waiver) - Available at the counter. Check at the rental counter for additional details.
PDW is mandatory for the following car groups J, XA, XB, XC, XE, XG, XI, XK, XL, XM, XN, XO.
PDW reduces the customers financial responsibility for damage to or loss of the Avis vehicle as a result of an accident or theft. 

Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. The customer will be totally responsible for handling coverage with the card issuer for any damage or theft of the Avis vehicle. Any waiver must be discussed with the location upon arrival.

Note: Other coverage may be available at the counter, check upon arrival for information.

Debit Card Policies

Debit cards are only accepted, as a form of payment, at the end of the rental in substituion of the credit card presented at the beginning of the rental.


Drivers License

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence.  Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.  We reserve the right to check the drivers license against Avis standards and refuse to rent if those standards are not met.


Public Liability and Property Damage

Public liability insurance is in accordance with the insurance laws of the country.  Customer may inquire at the time of rental for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance.

Additional Information

Mexico City Driving Restrictions: Driving cars in Mexico City is limited based on license plate and days of the week. Check with reservations or the counter for additional details.

Payment Options

A payment card (Visa, Euro/Master Card, Amex, Diners or Avis issued charge card) is required for all rentals. However, the renter doesn't need his or her credit card in order to make a booking online. We only request to know what type of credit card the renter is going to use at the actual time of rental.

Renter must use a payment card (credit or debit) at the time of rental in his or her own name.

The following cards are accepted forms of payment:

  •  Visa (Credit and Debit cards).
  •  MasterCard (Credit and Debit cards).
  •  American Express
  •  Discover
  •  Diners
  •  Avis issued charge cards


We don't accept Maestro, Electron, any pre-paid cards even if they carry the Visa or Mastercard logo- or any other cards not listed above.

CREDIT or DEBIT CARD HOLD: The estimated amount of the rental plus up to 500 EUR will be authorized against the renter's credit/debit card at the time of rental. In case the Super Cover is purchased or included, the authorization will be the estimated amount of the rental plus up to 150 EUR. This amount will no longer be available for your immediate use and may take up to 14 days, depending on your bank, to become available. We will not be responsible for any returned check(s) or insufficient fund charges or bank fees related to this process.

Avis Prestige Fleet

A payment card is required for all rentals as a guarantee. For car group H two payment cards must be submitted, one of which must be a credit one. Cash is not allowed.

Travel Into Other Countries

Cross border rental is possible under the following conditions:

  •  Booking must be made at the Contact Center of Avis Greece (tel: +30 210 6879800, e-mail: contact@avis.gr).
  •  Cross Border is only allowed in the following countries:
  •  Albania, Andorra, Cyprus, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, Portugal, Denmark, Iceland, Malta, Romania, Turkey, Moldavia, Finland, Ireland, Montenegro, Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Israel , Morocco, Slovenia, Bulgaria, FYROM, Italy, Northern Ireland, Spain.
  •  Booking must be on request only for categories A, B, C, D, E, F, G, J, K, L, M & N. Not allowed for services: Avis Van Rental, Avis Prestige, Avis Flex.
  •  There must be a written approval by Avis Greece at the start of the rental (not just by the booking process).
  •  Payment is via Avis central account and/or credit card. The credit card is always required to guarantee the rental of a car, based on Avis General Rental Terms.
  •  There will be additional costs for issuing the Green Card, for which you can get informed when making the booking. If the rental is over 1 month, additional Green Card(s) must be issued at extra cost. This cost is charged to the customer.
  •  The renter is obliged to return the car to Greece.
  •  The driver must have the new type of driving license (in Latin characters).

The price for cross border rental from Greece to abroad includes:

  • 300 km free per day
  • Third Party Cover
  • Collision Damage Cover with excess amount - according to each car group
  • Vehicle Theft Cover with excess amount - according to each car group
  • Airport Surcharge
  • City Tax, VAT

  • Note: The customer should be aware that if Avis car is damaged while staying in another country, Avis is not responsible for replacing the car with another.
