Loss Damage Waiver (LDW) optional 
Buying the LDW relieves the customer's financial responsibility for damage to the Avis vehicle in the event of an accident or theft, provided the customer complies with all the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. The protection covers a total loss of the rented vehicle and damage to the bodywork, glass and tires. LDW does not cover for damages or losses caused by negligence. An official report issued by the police must be shown in order to apply this coverage.

Partial Damage Waiver (PDW) optional for USD$15.00 + VAT per day.
Purchase of PDW reduces the renters financial liability, Non-Waivable Excess (NWE), in the event of an accident or theft, involving the Avis vehicle provided the customer complies with all terms and conditions of the rental agreement to USD 2,500.00 on all car groups. If not purchased the customer is liable for the full value of the Avis vehicle.. Theft protection is included with a non-waivable excess of 20% of the value of the vehicle rented. PDW does not cover damage to windshields, windows, mirrors, rings, or tires. An official report issued by the police must be shown in order to apply this coverage.  

Basic Enlargement (DRO)  The purchase of CDW is mandatory to be able to get DRO. The customer’s financial responsibility for damages to the Avis vehicle in case of accident to the bodywork will be cover for a maximum of USD$400.00, provided the customer complies with all terms and conditions of the rental agreement. DRO does not cover damage to windshields, windows, polarized, mirrors, tires, rings, accessories, and upholstery.

Global insurance coverages are always subject to change. Please verify at time of rental.

Avis Guatemala accepts Avis Charge Cards, American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa. An additional charge card hold will apply. At the time of rental we will request an authorization on your credit card for the estimated rental charges, plus a security deposit for all rentals including prepaid rentals between 1700.00 USD and 2200.00 USD depending on car group confirmed. If the customer declines coverages, the hold will be 3000 USD.

Debit cards are not accepted.

A valid driving license from the renter's country of residence is required and must be presented in person at the time of rental. International driving license is required only for countries with non-Roman alphabet.

Public liability insurance is with in accordance of the insurance laws of the country.

Customer may inquire for additional information of the benefits, conditions and acceptance at the time of rental.

Note: Some credit cards provide insurance coverage, with certain limitations, as a benefit of using the card to rent vehicles. The customer is advised to contact the card issuer before the rental. Any waiver must be discussed directly with the location upon arrival.

All drivers must meet the same minimum age and drivers license requirements as the renter. Any additional driver must be present at the time of rental to sign the additional drivers form. The additional driver fee is USD$10.00 + VAT per day for each additional driver.

At this location the minimum age is 21. There is no maximum age limit.  

For One-way and Border Crossing rentals, customer must request the reservation and pay for the appropriate Border Crossing Fee at least 72 hours before rental. 
Vehicles can be driven into Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua, but the vehicle must be returned to Guatemala. Vehicles can be returned to other Avis locations within Guatemala based on car availability.

CDW is recommended and Border Crossing Permits are required.

• Border Crossing fee to Belize is 224.60 USD.
• Border Crossing fee to other Central America countries is 33.60 USD

One way rentals outside country are not permitted.
