Is Australia a safe place to visit?

Australia is one of the safest countries you can visit. It has a low crime rate, making it suitable even if you’re a solo traveller. If you’re taking a self-drive journey that spans a long distance, make sure you register it with the relevant authorities.

How do I travel within Australia?

As an expansive country, Australia has lots of travel options. Two of the most popular amongst those who visit the country are domestic air travel and self-driving. While domestic air travel allows you to reach places quickly, self-driving gives you more freedom and it allows you to take in some of the scenery as you go.

At Avis, we provide car rental services throughout Australia. Because of this, you can collect your car at one location and drop it off at another. This is especially advantageous when you have plans such as driving across the Pacific Coastline. Additionally, you can blend domestic flights with our car hire services, as you’ll find our desks at most Australian international and domestic airports.

What can you see in Australia in 10 days?

If you’re willing to catch one or two flights while you’re in Australia, you can do a lot in 10 days. Start at Sydney and use one of our hire cars to explore everything the city has to offer. Make sure you book tickets for features such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge in advance, especially during peak periods. On your second day in Sydney, seize the opportunity to visit one of its most famous beaches. For example, Bondi Beach or Manly Beach.

On Day Three, catch a flight to Cairns and consider hiring a car so that you can visit Port Douglas. Once there, spend a little time relaxing, but make sure you dedicate Day Four to exploring the Great Barrier Reef. Day Five should be used to explore Palm Cove, which will leave you feeling as though you’re in a tropical setting.

On Day Six, return your rental car and catch a flight to Ayers Rock. While there, you can witness the stars in all their sparkling glory, as this is a region that doesn’t encounter much pollution. Dedicate Day Seven to a guided tour of Kata Tjuta National Park, and don’t forget your camera.

On Day Eight, you can return to luxury in style by heading for Melbourne using a domestic flight. As one of the best cities in Australia for shopping, Melbourne is an excellent setting for fine dining and splashing your cash. Spend the rest of your 10-day trip to Australia exploring it at your leisure, before heading back to Sydney on Day 10.

What can you do in Australia for 2 weeks?

If you’re fortunate enough to have two weeks for Australia, start your adventure in Sydney. Spend your first two days there exploring sites such as Manly Beach, Sydney Opera House, and Sydney Harbour. On Day Three, catch an early flight to Cairns, grab your hire car, and head to the harbour that’ll connect you to Green Island with just a 45-minute journey. Green Island leaves all visitors feeling as though they’ve discovered a tropical paradise.

On Day Four, it’s time to return your hire car to Cairns Airport and catch a flight to Gold Coast. Once there, dedicate the next two days to places such as Springbrook National Park and Broadbeach.

When Day Six rolls around, it’s time to take your hire car over to Byron Bay. As a hippie haven that’s ideal for relaxation, it provides a combination of beachside fun, surfing, and yoga for all to enjoy. After spending two days there, use Day Eight as an opportunity to return your car and fly over to Melbourne. It’s almost the opposite of Byron Bay, as it’s brimming with luxury, chic coffee houses, and excellent shopping opportunities. Spend Day Eight hitting the shops, Day Nine exploring Melbourne Harbour, and dedicate Day 10 to visiting its cricket ground and other sports features.

On days 11, 12, and 13, it’s time to take your hire car along Great Ocean Road. It’s 240 km long, so you could technically do it in less time. But when you pace yourself over a 72-hour period, taking in all the sights is easier. On Day 14, head to Adelaide and set your own pace. No matter what you do on your journey, always make sure you find time for relaxation, too.
